2008 International IMAC Judging Seminar
Edited by: Wayne Matthews
Continued....

The weather again cooperated this year so the field trip for Sunday was a go. We were fortunate to have two excellent demo pilots who took our new judges through the "wringer". A BIG Thank You goes out to David Moser and Joe Cutright who were brave enough to practice their wind correction in front of the avid class. We appreciate the preparation you guys made for us. We also would like to thank the Gateway Radio Control Club in Jacksonville FL., and Peter Jackson for preparing their flying field and allowing us to use it for training.

Sunday morning dawned a bit chilly (for Jamaicans) with a light wind blowing from the East. The practical application of what was learned the previous day was put into play when Joe took to the air & demonstrated various Snap Rolls (including the now infamous "shoulder snap"). During this time the good, bad & ugly were shown so that judges could differentiate. Then David took flight & showed many variations to spins & hammerheads. Then Joe came back & did tailslides & an Unknown. Next, a portion of various sequences were flown by Joe, as unfortunately, David's prop "bit" his fingers & he had to sit it out for a while. The technique of comparing scores & explaining what certain deductions were and why was used to good effect. We actually did not see the wide variation of scores that we normally experience during this portion of the training. On the final 2008 Unlimited Known sequence, flown by David, he "slipped" in a few predetermined mistakes & was caught by most of the "eagle eyed" judges.

The Flying & Judging Seminar came to a close at 12:00 pm and IMAC Certificates (including Instructors) were handed out to each attendee. We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to being there and we can assure all members of IMAC that superb judging is on the rise, not only in our S.E. Region, but also throughout our entire system.

Our sincere appreciation goes out to Stan and Nora Stockman for handling all of our documentation for the event. I would also like to publicly THANK Stan Stockman, Ty Lyman & Kent Porter for the numerous hours that they spent in preparation for this function. We could not have done it without you guys. We would like to also thank the Executives of IMAC for their decision to administer a grant allowing us to be able to hold this event, and again, to all of our generous sponsors, THANK YOU.
